Snorkeling and Scuba Diving
For those who love the underwater world you can go to Cabo San Lucas and dive the sand falls where two oceans meet (Pacific and Sea of Cortez) cascades of white sand up to 90 feet deep. The water around Los Arcos has an average depth of 60 feet and 4,000 feet at it's deepest. By law, Mexican divers are limited to 95 feet and must have their PADI certification. You can spot sea lions, turtles, sea bass and large schools of game fish. There are also vertical walls and reefs with abundant sea life. Cabo Pulmo, north of Los Cabos, has great scuba diving from relatively shallow depths. Pre-Reservations for diving includes door-to-door transportation, your choice of equipment rentals, air tanks, instruction, choice of dive sites, and guarantees availability. Snorkeling is a fun, safe and easy way for everyone to enjoy the inshore bays and reefs. The Los Cabos coastline is carved with numerous locations for swimming with tropical fish. Pick up will be at your door, with all equipment including a bilingual guide who will instruct beginners, and in a few short moments a whole new under sea world will come to life.
Whale watching
The most extraordinary sight in all of the Baja takes place every year from January until late March. After a 6,000 mile annual migration from the Bering Sea, the grey whale arrives to winter and birth their calves in the warm lagoons of the Baja. Once hunted to near extinction, these mythical creatures are now protected by international covenants and their numbers are increasing, along with their curiosity and friendliness. For the adventurous who would like to take the trip of a life time, take one of the fly-in day excursions to the birthing and mating lagoons at Magdelena Bay. Your day starts with an early a.m. pick up at Las Mañanitas to take you to the Cabo San Lucas municipal airport for an unforgettable flight in a 6-8 passenger plane over 200 miles of coastline, arriving at Puerto Lopez Mateos. The next hours are spent on a guided, up-close tour of the whales and their calves.
You'll enjoy a beach side seafood buffet before hopping on the plane for the return trip, arriving back at your condominium just in time for happy hour. Our Guests have always raved about this adventure. Reservations are a must for this special experience. The price is approximately $395 plus tax per person.
Kayaking
Kayaking in the calm waters of the Sea of Cortez is a great adventure for novices and experts alike. Guided tandem kayaks are provided and excursions can begin right outside your door at Las Mañanitas. Or you can request to travel to any one of a number of superb launch points. We suggest you combine a snorkel/kayak tour to Cabo Pulmo to see both the Sea Lion colony and explore the coral reefs. Shallow depths assure great snorkeling and calm waters make for an easy time in the kayak.
Desert Hiking
Having the nuances of the desert explained is quite fascinating. It's an easy hike to ancient cave paintings, fossils left over from when the Baja was an ocean floor, natural mountain sweet water, hot springs and breathtaking vistas. Sunrise hikes are awe-inspiring from the desert mountains.
